Tripanionship in the cherry blossoms

13 April 2015

The trio is going great! We've gotten a lot of work done in the weekend and we're hoping to keep it up! My companions are very social and so they talk to everybody! And then we hand out lots of cards and copies of the Book of Mormon. It's a good thing, I just hope someday I can do the same because I need to learn how to be social...

I sent you a picture of our tripanionship in the cherry blossoms. I have more pictures, but I'll have to send them next week when I have access to a computer. :) and the other flower picture will have to wait until then, too. Sorry!
WOW. 34 weddings in one day? That's really busy!

My tick bite is good. It's almost totally healed now. No rings, so no lymes disease! Woo-whoo!

We've visited a lot of people this last week that I had seen their names, but I didn't know them, so I was happy. Get to meet new people.

OUR INVESTIGATOR IS GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SO excited! She told me yesterday They have the rings, we found a dress, we have the place, and the the bishop's going to marry them, they just need to get the marriage license from a Virginia court! The bishop has a license to marry them in Virginia, but not in Maryland, but they have a license to get married in Maryland..so we just have that little wrinkle to iron out, but then we'll be having a wedding! I'm so excited! I gotta get practicing, though. I told them I'd play the organ for their wedding, so President Riggs gave me permission to play wedding music as long as I played "Baptism" from the children's songbook right after. :)

Because He Lives

6 April 2015

This week was a much busier week than last week. Amazing what we can do when we get out of the house. We were showing everyone we could the new Easter video: "Because He Lives." It's a really good video. We almost reached all of our goals for the week! It was a good week.

Another one of my goals this week is to memorize scripture references, because I can tell you where the general area is, but I can't tell you the reference, and it's easier with I-pads to know the reference, not just what the scripture says. So far, not doing so great, but I'll get there!

I got my first tick this week! We went picking flowers, and then as we came back to the car, something was biting my leg and the Spirit tells me, "You've got a tick." I look, a lo and behold, there was a tick! I was nervous and I told my companion, "I've got a tick," in a cute, nervous, sing-song voice. She came over and pulled it right off. It didn't leave much of a bite and she said it's head isn't in my skin, so I'm happy. I don't know what I'm going to do when she goes. I'll just have to be brave and pull off my own ticks, I guess! She has 7 great danes at home and she says she pulls 100 some-odd ticks everyday off of them in the summer, so she knows how to get them off without any problems. She's amazing.

I learned a lot about marriage and family from this general conference. It really strengthen my resolve to get married in the temple, have children, and teach them the Gospel.

Baptisms!

23 March 2015

The baptisms when great! Stressful, but great! We helped make enchiladas in the morning. It was fun and pretty easy. I'll make 'em when I get home. We also waited for half an hour before the man who was going to baptize them came, but it worked out well in the end. Picture below.

This last week, we had a specialized training on the Book of Mormon and how we need to flood the earth with it. We read President Benson's talk from October 1988 and I thought how he might have challenged us to use the Book of Mormon more with the technological expansions we've had since his day. He'd probably challenge us to post about it on Facebook and use Twitter and all that other social media to spread it around the world. It's a pretty awesome thought.

Also, in the specialized training, we talked about planning, and how God planned the earth before He made anything and when we plan, we work, and when we work, we're more productive, and when we're more productive, we're happy! Therefore, all happiness starts from planning, and therefore, we need to plan. :)

Yesterday, we went to a Mexican's house for dinner, and we were expecting something like rice and chicken (the usual) for dinner and then we saw the daughter-in-law was making quiche! That's a German dish! She's from Austria. It was a very interesting dinner. There was English, Spanish, and German going around, and we ate salad, bread, and quiche in a Mexican home....It was really interesting, but it was really good, too.

Just a regular week in missionary work

9 March 2015

This week was good! We had another crazy snowstorm on Thursday. We woke up and it was warm and beautiful, and then within a few hours, it started to snow. It snowed hard. So hard, we couldn't drive again. So we did our weekly planning and then walked to our nearby appointments. When we came home, we cleaned snow off of people's cars.

Daylight Savings threw us for a loop. We woke up on Sunday, thinking it was 6:30, and it was actually 7:30! We hopped out of bed, got ready in a flurry, and still got to church on time. Whew!

J___'s kids are doing good! We just have a few more lessons to teach and then they will be baptized next week! Pretty exciting!

We found some yoga videos in our apartment that President Riggs said we could work out to. We did upper body today and now I'm feeling the burn! :)

We translated a document for someone into Spanish this week. It made for a great language study.

Just a regular week in missionary work other than that. Wake up, exercise, shower, eat, study, eat, teach, eat, teach, plan, sleep. That's why it threw us for a loop when Daylight Savings came--because we are so used to this routine that all the days just blend together.

We have interviews with Pres. Riggs this week. And we get new I-Pads. Woo-whoo!

We're going to play sports today and Hna. Atkinson's really excited. Volleyball is a great stress-reliever. :)
